In a one story brick home in Milwaukee Wisconsin, I grew up the only child of the only Jewish, over-educated, east-coast native parents in the entire school district.
My predominantly Scandinavian and German neighbors kept to themselves and meticulously groomed their homes. Often playing alone in the yard or going on rides to nowhere with my mother, it never occurred to me to watch the television or even make a phone call. The only thing that got the neighbors together would be the sound of an approaching fire engine. People would suddenly appear with folding lawn chairs, lining up on the sidewalk in an orderly fashion to watch the fire.
Such were my beginnings as an outsider. I now capture that glimpse into other people's inner worlds, like Diane Arbus on a good day or a midwestern Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Now living in California, I find it just amplifies the otherness of the Midwest in my photographs. It is no longer my home. I use the eyes of a now foreign traveler to help reveal what was hidden to me as a native.
Writing is my new love.
I've got enough shiny statues now to prove to who knows that I succeeded in television. Eleven Emmy Awards, 2Associated Press, 2Edward R Murrow, 5RTNDA, shared Peabody, much etc.
I just completed my reign as President of the SF/Nor Cal chapter of NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences).
In October 2010 I was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle.
It's an award for exceptional contributions to the local television community and hanging in there for at least 25 years.
I've continued to identify as an artist, concentrating on photography.
My work has been in several juried competitions and collections. I recently started doing author photos. Check out the next book by Pulitzer Prize winning author Alan Taylor.
All things full circle, I've revived my high school obsession with making jewelry & fashion. laceproject.etsy.com.
And travel. Always traveling. Some things don't change.
by Jennifer L. Price Towering above us at 9,724 ft (2,964 meters) was the Zugspitze, Germany’s tallest mountain. Although it was two in the afternoon and the sun was shining, it was April and the thermometer showed zero degrees. I looked at my two friends nervously. Are we really going to do this? We stood…

by Christie O’Keefe Picture yourself on a long stretch of white sand beach. You’re carrying your brand new Gucci tote and you’re enjoying an aperitif while watching the sun set over the ocean. Checking your watch, you realize you need to leave for your dinner reservation at a chic restaurant owned by a famous chef….
When the play ended the audience was memorized. That does not happen much in modern theater, but Scorched is different. Scorched is a story of love, family, motherhood, feminine power, wrapped around a dark history of war, lies, secrets, and unbearable pains. For Divas who want a moving theater experience, then I highly recommend a…
by Nirmala Nataraj There’s no description of Bombay quite comparable to that of Salman Rushdie’s in his novel Midnight’s Children: “Our Bombay: it looks like a hand but really it’s a mouth, always open, always hungry, swallowing food and talent from everywhere else in India. A glamorous leech, producing nothing except films bush-shirts fish…” Perhaps…
