August 4: 5K9 Walk Run Fundraiser Debuts in the Bay Area
The Petco Foundation and Multisports.com are once again calling all two- and four-legged runners, walkers and waggers to take part in a 5K9 Walk Run series in support of local pets and healthy lifestyles. Each race includes a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) and 1 mile run/walk event for runners and walkers, both with and without their dogs. All events will feature a race expo where dogs and their human companions can shop for athletic products, pet products, and more. A portion of all 5K9 Walk Run race registrations and fundraising efforts generated by participants will benefit the Petco Foundation, which supports more than 8,000 local animal-welfare organizations across the country including the San Francisco SPCA and Petaluma Animal Services Foundation.
Participants will have access to coaching and training programs for both humans and pets, and they can also connect with other athletes and their pet companions online in their local communities by visiting the race Facebook page HERE.
About 5K9 Walk Run
5k9 Walk Run™ is a national 1-mile and 5k run series open to both people and their pets! The 5k9 series was formed by Multisports.com, LLC, a team of dog lovers who are world-class coaches and IRONMAN triathlon champions. The series mission is to promote healthy and fit lifestyles across the country while raising funds for the Petco Foundation, which in turn utilizes the funds to assist with local animal welfare groups. The 5k9 Walk Run event also features a health and fitness expo, providing a showcase of products, goods and demonstrations.
