Mexico – My Mandarin Oriental Hideaway
The past few months of my life have been crazy. I’m going through a divorce, moved out of my beautiful home, and started a new travel media business – Jetset Extra.
You know that song by Natasha Bedingfield, Pocketful of Sunshine? That has been my theme song on this trip to the Mandarin Oriental.
I got pocket,
Got a pocket full of sunshine
I’ve got a love and I know that it’s all mine
oh,oh,oh
Wish that you could,
but you ain’t gonna own me
do anything you can to control me
There’s a place that I go
That nobody knows
Where the rivers flow
And I call it home
And there’s no more lies
And the darkness is light
And nobody cries
there’s only butterflies
The sun is on my side
Take me for a ride
I smile up to the sky
I know I’ll be alright
Here, at the Mandarin Oriental, I am in a place where the sun shines and I know that I will be alright. There is a river that flows, and so many wonderful butterflies. This is the perfect place for some pampering and healing.
I have been staying at the Mandarin Oriental, a five-star resort nestled along an idyllic coastline on the Yucatan peninsula. My villa is a two-story dream come true, with an outdoor bathtub (where they will fill it for you with salts or gels – I enjoyed a therapeutic salt bath under the stars), there is a beautiful rooftop deck with views of the Caribbean Sea, and of course – a four-poster king size bed with a zillion-count sheets.
This resort is IDEAL for couples who want to get away from everything and get super pampered. (I might be going through a divorce, but I am not dead!) The staff here is incredibly kind and willing to go out of their way to make you feel completely cared for. They have a 25,000 square-foot spa and private pool where you can get lost in the clouds that gentle pass by. The beach is pristine and very private. Privacy is of the utmost importance and they do all they can to make you feel like you are the only couple at the resort.
The resort is only 10 minutes away form my favorite place in the world – Playa del Carmen. There you can party all night long and dance the night away. So for those who want a bit of peace along with some partying – this is the ideal destination.
Wow, that place looks AMAZING! It is in the Riviera Maya, right? I’m heading to Playa del Carmen tomorrow…also in an effort to move past a relationship that ended recently (although not to the extent of a divorce). Let me know if you’d like to meet up for a drink if you’ll still be in the area!
