Diva Minds Want to Know…

1. Where do you like to flirt?

Everywhere. I am always out and about and love talking to people. NOPA is a great spot to meet new people. I always meet someone new every time I go there. It is a total restaurant industry hangout so I am bound to make a 6 degrees of separation connection. Sometimes when I go out, I am just being nice and women think I am coming on to them. This can get me into trouble.

2. Where is your favorite table for two?

For dining my tops picks are: Beretta, Kokkari, SPQR,Boulevard, Jardinière, and The Slanted Door to name a few. For cocktails I follow the more artesian places like: Beretta, Alembic, Cantina, Absinthe, 15 Romolo.

3. Where should we stay when we visit?

Four Seasons would be my top pick. Just the room service alone will make you want to go back again and again. Then from there I would say the Clift Hotel or the W for the sexy cool atmosphere. I love the zebra carpets with the mirror coffee tables in the rooms at the Clift. For a more romantic or classic getaway I would say the Prescott Hotel or the Fairmont.

4. What qualities do you find irresistible in a woman?

Confidence is primo. She needs to know who she is and where she is going. Never second guesses herself. Sexy. Not just in the way she dresses, but how she carries herself. I am putty in their hands when I meet a woman who knows how to “be” sexy. Hard working and independent. I love a woman who does not just sit by the phone and wait for my call. She has her busy agenda for the week and we find time to be with each other.

5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon?

Hiking a trail up at Mt. Tamalpais or shucking oysters up in Tomales Bay at Hog Island Oyster Company.

6. What do you love most about your hometown (besides our arrival)?

I love the diversity. I find it hard to live in a city or town where everyone eats vanilla ice cream.

7. What should we bring when we visit? What should we leave with?

Bring an open mind and an empty stomach. Leave with a sense of community.

8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?

There are a ton of awesome restaurants on Telegraph and Claremont. Some really young talent is being born there. Could not leave without checking out a jazz show at Yoshi’s in Jack London Square.

9. Any areas of town we should avoid?

East Oakland can be a little shady, but there are so many parts of Oakland that you would not need to be concerned about trying to avoid.

10. Any local secrets you want to share?

My personal favorite would be eating tacos from a taco truck on High Street and International Blvd. Kind of dicey area, but worth the experience.
