Diva Minds Want to Know…

1. Where do you like to flirt?

As a ski enthusiast, I’ve found the ski hill to be one of the best places to flirt. I’ve realized this to be true for several reasons. First off, by flirting on the ski hill, or on the lift, I can instantly confirm that the girl has similar interests. This saves both parties several weeks of figuring out what the prospective significant other is all about. On top of that, given that ski apparel usually doesn’t accentuate one’s body shape, girls know that any sort of blatant attempt to talk to her wasn’t solely because of looks—something beyond appearance has led you to take the risk. Lastly, if the initial flirting and conversations go well, then you are set up for the perfect, non-stressful first-date as you both rip down the hill—setting up more conversation starters for the lift ride back to the top. The ski hill helps you get to those, “right place at the right time” situations. Blog: Danger Ready / Facebook: Jesse Murphy / Twitter: jdrmurphy

2. Where is your favorite table for two?

This depends on which ski area I’m visiting in Idaho. If it’s Brundage in McCall, ID then I’ll probably be hanging around the Foresters. This newly remodeled bar is breaking the mold by being smoke-free, affordable and consistently hosting live music. In Sun Valley, I’ll be around The Cellar, a dive bar to Sun Valley standards, but otherwise, just a fun place to grab a drink. However, when I’m staying closer to home and skiing at Bogus Basin I’ll come back to Boise and stop at Bar Gernika for some authentic Basque food or at Bardenay where I can get locally raised food and a gin and tonic with some locally distilled Bardenay Gin. 3. Where should we stay when we visit?

For Boise, The Modern Hotel and bar is the only place! This new age hotel and bar sweeps everyone away with its progressive architecture and interior design. When traveling to McCall be sure to stay at Hotel McCall or at the Shore Lodge. When looking for the glitzy Idaho visit where I’ll run into the Hollywood stars, the Sun Valley Lodge is the best option.

4. What qualities do you find irresistible in a woman?

Confidence with a mix of fashion and an appreciation for the outdoors—add some wit and she’ll melt my heart.

5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon?

Cruising around on my skis; could be in the back country, at any Idaho ski area or maybe even on my skate skis. Sunday is the perfect opportunity to enjoy fresh air.

6. What do you love most about your hometown (besides our arrival)?

Variety. Idaho is a misunderstood and underestimated destination that has something for everybody. Our vacation and sports opportunities are incredible and by far the least crowded in the lower 48 states. Lift lines at the ski areas? We don’t have them. On top of that, we have amenities and restaurants that will make the most posh people smile. Try having a day on the lake, beach or skiing powder and then stop by for a glass of rose before you head to your lakeside cabin. The difference between Idaho resort towns and other states’ is that we barely have to drive or deal with traffic when moving from one place to another but we still have the same quality amenities.

7. What should we bring when we visit? What should we leave with?

Bring an open mind, make-up bag (or not, depending on your style), apparel appropriate for the season (bikini or stocking cap, you decide) and a yoga mat. If you pack properly then you’ll leave with incredible memories and maybe even an Idaho Spud (special packaged candy).

8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?

The proximity between snowcapped mountains, clear rivers and a five-star restaurants. You won’t see smog and you won’t see lines of traffic, giving you more time to experience the skiing and other outdoor activities that Idaho has to offer.

9. Any areas of town we should avoid?

Not unless you are avoiding open space.

10. Any local secrets you want to share?

I just told you all about it. Idaho, that’s my secret. I’m just waiting for the perfect person to come share it with me.
