Traveling to Africa or South America? Make sure to talk to your health care provider or visit your local travel clinic in plenty of time before your trip to secure a yellow fever immunization. There is a shortage at the moment, and many countries require documentation before entering.

Check the CDC website for more information including a map of affected countries, as well as the US State Department to find out which countries need an actual card to show that you have had the vaccine, as well as visa information and travel warnings.

I just visited my local travel clinic this morning regarding my upcoming trip to Tanzania next month. I am now fighting off polio, yellow fever, the flu, and typhoid! And I start malaria pills just before I get to Africa. What a party my immune system will be having!

There’s no need to panic with careful planning and organization. Bon Voyage!
