I arrived in Stockholm as a first-timer to Scandinavia. I expected to find a sophisticated, beautiful, artistic and fit city — and that I did, personified in the Story Hotel at Riddargatan.
It’s on the cutting edge of modern, from the online self check-in (there is always a staff member around for any assistance) to my guest room.
On a side note: While elevators are seldom anything to be remarked upon, one feature of the Story Hotel’s lift amused me. Each time upon reaching the ground floor, a distinguished, disembodied voice announced, “The bar is to your left.” Thanks for catering to guests like me!
My guest room was comfortable and very stylish, exuding Scandinavian minimalist hip with fun artwork everywhere I turned. The rooms all feature 100% organic cotton linens on top quality beds and very functional bathrooms with raindrop showers and beautiful sinks. Free wifi and a generous breakfast buffet are included in room prices.
The hotel restaurant, bar and whimsical atrium Backyard (a funky coffee house-slash-bar lounge) all let you know you’ve arrived someplace fun and trendy. The Bar presents DJ’s and / or live music Wednesdays through Saturdays.
Where It’s At
The location is fantastic, in the middle of the city and across the street from a metro station. It’s in the very hub of culture, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Don’t miss a stroll through the wonderful Saluhall Market down the street, and have lunch there. You are one metro stop from Stockholm Central Station and two from the old, historic Gamla Stan.
When you book a room on the Story Hotel website, enter the code LOTA in the remarks field and you will get a gift coupon of £150 per booking that you can spend in the restaurant, bar or gift shop.
All in all, the Story Hotel was the perfect stylish, city stay in Stockholm.
