Diva Minds Want to Know…

1. What was the best decision you made in your life?

The best decision I have made in life was learning to meditate. Life is a safari, a journey, of constant evolution. Each day, we are given myriad opportunities that allow us to transform into our next best selves. Meditation has helped me understand the value of that awakening.

2. What are your most memorable travel moments?

Traveling has created a tapestry of memorable moments in my life. Sleeping on the beach under the stars in Sardinia; enjoying multiple bonfires burning across the snow white Alp valley on New Years Eve in Savognin, Switzerland; diving with the Great White Sharks in Capetown; delivering books, pencils and used clothing to villagers between Botswana and Namibia; awaking at midnight to the sounds of a lion breathing and then hearing his tale whip the wall of my tent in Zimbabwe; being initiated by a Native American shaman high in the Andes of Ecuador!

3. What is the worst travel experience you’ve had?

Next to getting sick, being ripped off is a close second.

4. What have you learned about yourself through traveling?

Traveling has opened my mind. Living in Switzerland and France for 5 years, and traveling frequently throughout the rest of this world, I am always reminded that with just a smile I can bridge communication gaps and gain understanding and harmony with almost anyone in any culture.

5. If you could choose your ultimate travel companion, living or dead, real or imaginary, who would it be?

John Lennon

6. Which moments in your life did you feel the most alive?

There is something about market day in any French village that makes me feel alive. Helping preserve indigenous cultures and wildlife in the destinations I recommend, and participating in a shamanic ceremony with the Botswana Bushmen deep in the Kalahari Desert are moments of purity that have made me feel alive.

7. If money and time were no object, whee on earth would you go?

I enjoy facilitating deeper more enduring connections between travelers and the communities they visit in Asia, Africa and South America by promoting generosity in action or Philanthropic travel.

8. What’s next?

Exquisite Safaris specializes in philanthropic travel worldwide. As travelers develop ties to their favorite destinations and look for ways to give back to the communities they visit, an authentic purpose to travel is emerging. Exquisite Safaris enables open-hearted travelers to understand the challenges of the people in the places they visit while at the same time enjoying a 4 to 5 star experience with small groups and expert local guides. Experience has proven that by introducing travelers to local residents, empathy is created that raises awareness, time, and financial resources to further the well being of the indigenous communities.

Exquisite Safaris is empowering local and indigenous communities by providing clean water, medical and dental facilities, schools, skills, jobs, homes, micro-loan funding and entrepreneurial guidance. Tax deductible contributions to the humanitarian outreach programs that our travelers visit is accepted and managed by People Helping People a US based non-profit 501(c) foundation.
