1. Where do you like to flirt?
With my wife. But you ladies should all come to flirt with Oklahoma cowboys and oilmen at both The Continental and Cosmo Cafe. More on that a little later.
2. What are your favorite places to eat and drink?
I like to hang out at the Cosmo Cafe where you can get sophisticated sandwiches and coffees. I’ll hang out here and work on my laptop. And then I’ll have a beer to start out my night when happy hour rolls around. Not surprisingly, they also have a great cosmo drinks menu.

Then I’ll head to The Continental, an exciting new Tulsa bar. They have great live music and a neat outdoor tiki patio area. All those chandeliers add a nice touch. And I admire them for moving in downtown as we try to revitalize that area.

3. Where should we stay when we visit?
That I don’t know. Friends and family always stay with us. The Ambassador is pretty nice.
4. What qualities do you find irresistible in a woman?
I have to admit that I love an accent. My wife is British and runs a foundation doing good works for the city of Tulsa, especially in education. I like the fact that she is caring and smart. She’s also a great mom. We have 4 kids.
5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon?
I love jogging around River Parks along the Arkansas River. And I’ll check out our awesome museums. Gilcrease and Philbrook are both wonderful. It’s nice to take some time off the global petroleum industry and talk about art for a change.

6. What do you love most about your hometown (besides our arrival)?
The dogwoods blooming in the springtime are beautiful. My wife told me to say that. I started noticing them when I took some time off from my work and spent a few months beer drinking and navel gazing. That’s when I made my first documentary.
7. What should we bring when we visit? What should we leave with?
You should bring your poodle if you have one. You should leave with some sassy gifts from The Snow Goose in
Utica Square. They have naughty cards and even some anti-Republicanalia in our red state.
A classic department store full of elegance where my mom and her mom like to shop is called Miss Jackson’s. A real throw-back. Great jewelry department if you like bling.
8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?
You have to see our amazing art deco church, The Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Tulsa is also on famous
Route 66, so that’s nice.
9. Any areas of town we should avoid?
We definitely have some sketchy areas. Stay around Utica Square and Cherry Street (funky shops and a farmer’s market) and you won’t have any problems. Take a cab to and from The Continental.
10. Any local secrets you want to share?
Tulsa is a great town. It might just surprise you. My friends and I are all youngish (30s and 40s), fun and hip. Seriously. We know what quiche is.
Also, it’s Oklahoma’s Centennial this year, so this is a great time to visit. There will be a lot going on this year.
