After scouring the internet for what felt like days for fresh, functional activewear I ran across a company I had not encountered before – Constantly Varied Gear aka CVG. Not to be confused with the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport nor that “avert your eyes” scalp condition your cousin had. Do not mix it up with the Central Valley Greenway in Vancouver nor the VOICE’s Christina Victoria Grimmie. Like I said – I spent days searching.

CVG offers an impressive selection of eye catching bold prints in high quality workout wear. In particular, my now treasured print, “Tropic Like It’s Hot”. The bright colors of a tropical leaf pattern against a slimming dark background made for an artsy look. That’s me. Artsy.

I was lucky enough that before hitting that “purchase” button and draining my bank account right before bills were due, CVG was kind enough to send me a few pieces to test out.

On opening the package the material felt super smooth and instantly cooling with apparent excellent stretch. When the fabric stretches over my thick thighs the pattern stays consistent and the white inside lining of the leggings does not show through. Another wonderful surprise was the quality of the removable cup pads in the sports bra. Most cup pads are just flimsy pieces of foam. These had a little more structure and plushness to them. I still tossed them. My chest is in need of padding about as much as my thighs are (and I like it that way).

I rolled out in a pair of reversible leggings (who knew?) paired with a simple black racerback tank, featuring a fun play on the American flag using barbells instead of stripes. For me the two most important things when it comes to running in leggings, is that they don’t budge and must have one or two pockets. Not only did they stay perfectly in place for the full forty five minutes, they had ample pocket space for my nearly tablet sized phone. In addition, when stretched out the contra-pattern on the reverse side didn’t show through. Nice touch. If you are traveling and don’t want to waste any space on extra workout gear, I definitely recommend these reversible leggings to save space.

Next I whipped out the matching Tropic Like It’s Hot capri leggings and sports bra for a strength training session. The gym in my apartment is nice, but in the afternoon it turns into a sauna. I was dreading wearing leggings in the humid heat but was delighted to find that I stayed cool and the leggings wicked away sweat quick enough that I didn’t feel drenched despite a great workout and the room temperature. Again, the leggings stayed in place, and the sports bra has a very pretty strappy back design to show off. I was surprised that the sports bra was supportive, it did toe the line a bit on dangerously revealing so if you are large chested like myself, I would steer clear of high impact workouts.

CVG was a new brand to me, and I am impressed with the quality and customer service. Included in my package was a slip letting me know who packed the order (thanks Craig!).
