Touted For Best Restaurants :: San Francisco

After living in San Francisco for a decade, I have to admit, there are still a few supposedly excellent restaurants I haven’t been to, like The Dining Room. I know it’s supposed to be totally fantastic and I’m definitely a fan of Chef Ron Siegel’s cooking…it’s just that dining-in-a-hotel thing that I still find hard to shake.

But lately there have been a slew of Best Restaurant lists and awards and S.F. is making a great showing.

In Gayot’s Top 40 Restaurants in the Country:

SAN FRANCISCO

– The Dining Room
– Gary Danko
– Michael Mina
– Silks

and Spruce made it into Gayot’s Top 10 Nest New Restaurants.

Powerhouse New York Times restaurant critic, Frank BruniAn-Interview-With-Sirio-Maccioni , usually covers restaurants in NYC’s the five boroughs. Recently, Bruni ventured beyond city limits to track down the 10 most “intriguing new restaurants outside of New York” and has been reviewing a few each week in the NYT’s food section. San Francisco scored not only one, but two spots.
Coi and Ubuntu both made the cut.

What’s your pick for most intriquing new restaurant?
