The San Francisco Street Food Festival is a fun-filled foodie day, hosted by La Cocina, that advocates for the creation of policies that support the formalization of mobile food vending in San Francisco. (Try saying that in one breath…wait-not with your mouth full!) Save the date for an e.z. one-stop chance to sample some of the best street food from over 40 mobile food carts usually found roaming the streets of SF.

Treat your buds to some mighty tasty bites, starting with Azalina’s Malaysian cart (Chicken and Beef Curried Meatballs with Sticky Rice Triangles) ending with Zella’s Soulful Kitchen (based on her Granny’s southern comfort-food recipes).

You’re going to have your hands full juggling Estrellita’s pupusa and Bi-Rite’s Malted Milk Chocolate Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich so do the smart thing and buy yourself a Passport (ranging from $25-$150 to really save some time and money)

Attire is casual, but if you want to really dress the part, you’ll fork over $25 for an “I Cart Street Food” T-Shirts.

After Event: Once you’ve eaten your fill but would like to learn more about the overwhelming impact street food has on the political, entrepreneurial and economic environment, get your ticket for the informative Street Food Conference, August 22-23. Hosted by Molly O’Neill, award-winning cookbook author, who explores the personal stories of and inspiration behind the immigrant people who season our streets with flavor and John T. Edge, renowned author and columnist for the New York Times. Tickets range from $20-$50. It will be held at the Hotel Vitale, across from the Ferry Building. On Sunday, the general public and all food lovers are invited to brunch at Americano’s streetside patio followed by two panel conversations. ($15 per panel or $25 for both) Monday will be a full day of 4 sessions designed to engage city planners, policy makers, academics, and non profits. ($5 per sessions or $20 for all 4)
