Summer, finally! It’s the time to hit the beach, relax with a few magazines and catch up on the latest trends. Here are several of my favorites!

Take the Maxi Dress Trend to the Max
I absolutely love maxi dresses. They’re elegant, yet comfortable. You can find maxi dresses in floral prints, graphic patterns or my favorite, classic black. They are perfect for any outing, day or night because you can dress them up or down. Pair them with wedges or thong sandals. Or maybe some dangly earrings or a statement necklace. Remember: less is more!

Another style of dress that is becoming popular are the “hi-low” skirts and dresses. These are short in the front and long in the back. They’re perfect for showing off your legs in warm weather. Whenever I wear mine, I feel like I’m wearing a cape because if there is a breeze, it will flow back (but not up). You can find this style of dress/skirt pretty much anywhere, like Express or Buckle, but I like Forever21 the best. It’s priced reasonably and very stylish.

High-waisted Cut-off Shorts: Don’t Cut This Trend Out of Your Closet!
I’m a huge Pinterest fan, and a building trend I spotted is high-waisted cut-off shorts that you can make yourself. One of my friends, Maranda, is a pro at this. Her secret is going to Goodwill, buying high-wasted jeans, and cutting them at home just the length she likes. She gets so many compliments and people are astounded when she tells them that she did them herself.

To add a little pizzazz to this trend, try putting lace on the back pockets. Lace is showing up everywhere: dresses, skirts, blouses, and even handbags. Enjoy this trend while it lasts!

Get Hair as Wavy as the Waves Themselves
Beach waves are easier to attain than you think. My hair is naturally wavy, which is nice, but it always helps to put in styling product as well. I like Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel. It is easy to use and smells great! It boosts your wavy, permed or naturally curly hair without making it frizzy. Just spray it onto damp hair, scrunch hair and let it air-dry.

Fun & Flirty Nail Polish
I’m going to come right out and say it: I am obsessed with nail polish. Whether it be neon, glitter or my own impromptu combo, I can’t get enough of it. Every time I enter a drugstore, I go straight to the nail polish counter. Sometimes I can’t decide which color, so I put two different colors on. For instance, right now, I have plain white and Sally Hansen HD “Spectrum”. To achieve this design, I put the white on first, let it dry completely, put tape over half of the white part, and painted the blue on the exposed section. For summer, go for the brighter, or even nude colors.

Be prepared for spontaneous boat rides!
Summertime adventure for me means being on the water – anytime – any craft. Being agile on a boat requires the right kind of boat shoes – learn more in this article by BelowTheLabel.
