The morning was spent with Greg the mountain man and he owns a company called GREG’S SAFARIS.

He is forth-generation St. Kittian and love the island so much that he spends his days taking people on tour of the island and sharing the deep, rich history with guests. He does ½ day rain forest hike, a full day volcano hike, and an off-road Jeep safari. We did the morning off-road Jeep safari where we learned about the brutal history of the slave trade and the sugar cane harvests.

We visited four plantations and drove through rugged mountain passes to big, open sugar cane fields. While walking around one of the plantations, we came across a lovely little purple flower that had a very interesting shape to it, I asked Greg what it was, and in a voice reminiscent of a English school teacher he said, “Oh, yes, lovely, you found the Clitoris Flower.” (Well, at least some of us can find it.)

When a bee lands on its petals, it is drawn to the sweet pollen, which is hidden beneath the top petal. The bee pushes the petal lightly and out pop the…. well, you get the idea. Talk about the birds and the bees!

After the safari Jeep tour I had to take a disco nap. At the Marriott, there a quite a few good disco nap destinations. First, you have the beachfront, where you can lay starfish position on a towel and enjoy the breeze form the Atlantic. Second is the main pool – which is the heart of the resort and had live bands and a swim-up bar. Third, is the pool to right, which is nice a chill and perfect for sipping a rum punch and listening to Caribbean tunes. Forth, is the pool to the left, where you can hang out in the hot tub or lay on a lounge chair with a canopy to cover your face. Fifth, you can get a massage at the spa – which is amazing. And Finally, you can just go to your room, open the window and let the breeze lull you to sleep in one of those big, cozy Marriott beds. Disco nap complete, I got ready for a relaxing night with the Divas.

We had dinner at Blu Seafood Restaurant, which is on the Marriott property. The food was fabulous. We share some amazingly plump scallops, and I had the grouper with yucca root and Caribbean glaze. Yum!

There are 10 different places to eat on the property, some are really casual, and others, like Blu are a bit more fancy. In other words, you can’t show up in your bikini at Blu – but the pizza shack, you can.
After dinner, we had a nightcap in the Lobby Bar, where we hung out with a few other guest from around the world. If you go to St. Kitts, you have to try the blended mojito at the bar – oh my goodness! If you love mojitos, you are going to LOVE this drink.
