The Studio Theatre at The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center– The Villages, Florida is keeping the curtain raised this summer honoring the centennial anniversary of women’s suffrage.

“Ready to get back to the business of creating and delivering the magic of live theatre.”

Whitney Morse, Artistic Director shares the season’s moniker: Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History.

Past Texas Governor, Ann Richards’ quote is a fond reference and timely tribute to Women in the Arts and The Studio Theatre’s upcoming show – “Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.”

Well behaved women seldom make history.

Spike Heels” kicks off in June celebrating a summer free of covid doom and gloom. Show seating has been relocated from the smaller intimate Tierra Del Sol Theatre to The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center to allow for continued social distancing. But be assured, the creative intensity and intimate connection remain unchanged. The safety of patrons is a priority.

The audience is treated to a delightful and engaging performance. You will be working your smile and laugh muscles that are near atrophy. The prevailing superficial question – is it really all about the shoes?

Or is there more?

Overview:

Pygmalion goes awry in 1990s Boston in this contemporary comedy of manners which explores the absurdity of a four-sided love triangle. The combatants are Georgie, a sexy, volatile young woman in heels and three country club types: a writer, a lawyer, and a fiancée in sensible shoes. Georgie proves that sometimes poorly-educated, street-smart people know a lot more about life than well-read intellectuals. This scandalous comedy examines the power dynamic between men and women, and reveals issues that are as important today as they were in 1990.
