A manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostrus) swims along underwater in the springs of Crystal River, Florida

Save the Manatee Club co-founder and renowned singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett helped develop the Adopt-A-Manatee program in 1984 to raise awareness and funds for manatee protection. Many of the first adoptees are still alive and well, enjoying the warm Florida spring waters. The program has sustained manatee conservation and educated countless manatee lovers ever since.

“With a large portion of our conservation funds coming from the Adopt-A-Manatee program, each adoption truly makes a difference in the lives of imperiled manatees,” says Patrick Rose, Aquatic Biologist and Executive Director for Save the Manatee Club.

Be sure to order Adoption Certificate by January 31st  or sooner for a Valentine’ Day arrival. Visit savethemanatee.org/adopt
