Calling all music festival lovers! Calling all music festival lovers!

Outside Lands, held in Golden Gate Park on August 10-12, 2012 brings together great music, amazing San Francisco food and drink, art and other various performances for one unforgettable weekend.

Music
Headling this year’s Outside Lands will be Metallica, Stevie WonderNeil Young & Crazy Horse, Jack White and Foo Fighters. However, it’s not just rock music. They have included more electronic dance music this year, making it more diverse. I have seen Justice and Skrillex live before, and let me tell you, they are incredible. I am excited to see Passion Pit, Foo FightersBirdy (only because she sings a beautiful cover to Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love“), and who knows, maybe I’ll head over to Big Boi. He’s not really my type of music genre, but I’m open to anything. Other artists performing include Nora Jones, Franz Ferdinand, Fun., Big GiganticRegina Spektor, the Kills and many, many more.

Food & Drink
There is so much more than just music at this spectacular festival. Since we are in San Francisco, food vendors from around the area have delicious menus set up to show off what they’ve got. Pacific Catch will be there serving baja shrimp ceviche and fish-n-chips, Namu Ganji will be serving Korean tacos, and Whisk on Wheels will be grilling up some angus burgers. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! For a full list of vendors, click here! There is also going to be Wine Lands, a unique area where wine is served from a tap. It’s like a keg, but wine. Now that’s pretty cool.

Performances
There will also be other performances besides music. Art is a major attraction at Outside Lands. There will be numerous displays of art around the festival. Vau de Vire, a theatrical-circus/variety group brings back “The Barbary” in celebration of SF’s Barbary Coast district. On Sunday night, renouned comedian Gallagher will give a special performance. I have high expectations for this one!

Keeping it Green
Outside Lands is working towards sustainability, therefore serving free water (to guests who purchase the Outside Lands stainless steel water bottle) the whole weekend at refill stations. There is also an area to park your bike if you choose to ride yours there. Taking BART or the Muni will also get you there, as well as the Esurance shuttle bus.
