Tucked away on the lively corner of Mission and 17th Streets in San Francisco, you’ll find Scott Youkilis’ Maverick restaurant.

In an enclave that is surrounded by taco shops and Internet cafes, it s a
treat to find a good ol’ restaurant serving gentrified comfort food. Items
like pork belly and prawns and Southern fried chicken are among the
favorites.

Keeping with their rich American theme, you can find the place packed on
nights where they have their famed “Round ups” with Sutton Cellars. Think
too much food and just as much wine paired with a four-course meal designed
especially by Scott.

And for you Divas who love all things Southern, you
can join in on the Southern Fried Night. Not to be confused with hot
summer nights.

Maverick was started by two passionate men who really wanted to experience
super food in a fun, casual space. The cozy restaurant is packed to the limits on Saturdays and Sundays for their
incredible brunch that offers crazy dishes like: Cajun Scramble (Andouille
sausage, scallions, cheesy grits, buttermilk biscuit) and Smoked Duck Hash
(oyster mushrooms, potatoes, smoked duck, poached eggs, wild mushroom cream
sauce).

Oh and don’t forget a blackberry mimosa!

I asked Scott what he wanted people to remember about his food and he said,
“I want people to remember our really good food and wine enjoyed in a fun
space that is unpretentious. Serious food with a chill attitude.”
