1. Where do you like to flirt?

Everywhere. I’m 26 and in school taking pre-med classes for medical school, so I sit in classrooms full of 18 and 19 year old girls. What the hell do you think I do all day long?

2. What are your favorite places to eat and drink?

I’m a huge fan of Mexican food, and Sacramento has some GREAT Mexican food restaurants. Lots of great mom-and-pop hole-in-the-wall Mexican food places with real authentic stuff, which does a number on me but I eat it anyways, it’s that good. Also, the Sacramento Brewing Company and a number of other microbrews have a number of good local beers and great food.

3. Where should we stay when we visit?

Why don’t you come down to my place…just kidding. Staying downtown is ideal. You are within minutes of the river, the state capital, local bars and clubs, everything exciting that Sacramento can offer.

4. What qualities do you find irresistible in a woman?

Sarcasm. Someone who can put up with my sarcastic bullshit and dish it back. A great laugh and a glowing smile. Long legs.

5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon?

(1) Skydiving. (2) Riding my motorcycle somewhere. (3) Doing anything outdoors so I’m not sitting on my butt all day long. Sacramento has too good of weather to be wasting time indoors.

6. What do you love most about your hometown (besides our arrival)?

Location and living. Sacramento is in the central valley in Northern California, which has great weather year-round. 2 hours west you have ocean and sand. 2 hours east you have some of the best skiing in the country. Also, Sacramento has a few million people for you big city types, but there are lots of small places to tuck yourself away and get away from it all. It’s very spread out and doesn’t cramp your style like NYC or LA would.

7. What should we bring when we visit? What should we leave with?

Bring sunblock. It gets toasty during the summers and is always sunny. We set a record a while back with more than 200 straight days without a drop of rain. Leave with me! Just kidding, I have no idea about this one. Everyone collects different things, and Sacramento has something for everybody. But Sacramento is within driving distance of some of the amazing Napa Valley wineries, so try a little day-trip and grab some wine.

8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?

The state capital. My brother works there so I’ve been a number of times, and it’s an amazing place. Old Sacramento and the River Delta are also great touristy places if that’s your cup of tea. The Rivercats baseball team plays in Sacramento, too (AAA team for the Oakland A’s). $4 a ticket to sit in the grass on a sunny day and watch a ballgame. Can’t beat it.

9. Any areas of town we should avoid?

West Sacramento. Not the worst slums in the world, by any means, but still a shady place to be. Basically, most places west of the river are bad. Fortunately, the vast majority of the town (including downtown) are on the other side.

10. Any local secrets you want to share?

Not really, I’ve only lived there sporadically over the last 10 years (been moving a lot and deploying overseas with the Army), so I’m not too in touch with the happenings of Sacramento right now. But it’s still my home, and I love it. Great weather, great location, friendly people, big city, nice and spread out, it’s awesome.
