What’s going on here?
It was a beautiful June evening at the South Beach Yacht Club in San Francisco, California, packed with beautiful, well-dressed folks enjoying fine wine, gourmet food, and a live music concert.
Nothing less than the 2018 kick-off party for the Musica Marin International Chamber Music Festival, produced by the nonprofit Musica Marin. Founding partners Ruth Kahn, an acclaimed violist, and master chef Mark Furr have created an alluring celebration of classical music combining world-class food and musical performances in a variety of exclusive venues throughout the cities of Belvedere and Tiburon, California.
On September 21 the festival opens in a beautiful chapel and a nine-acre private estate overlooking San Francisco Bay. Impressive.
The mission? To inspire, educate and cultivate appreciation and support for the classical arts. They award grants to Bay Area schools and nonprofit organizations. What classical music student wouldn’t love to receive the Young Artists Performance Award, the Young American Composer’s Award, or the Composer-in-Residence Program and Educational Fund. But wait, there’s more. Musica Marin partners with Juilliard, Mill Valley Film Festival, San Francisco Boys Chorus, and Merola Opera Program.
