Now, without further ado:

You are inspiring and insightful. What are the basic principles of your life that created your strong foundation?

“I believe that if you focus on your passions and live an authentic, honest life great rewards are returned. For me, it was important to identify any self-inflicting barriers that were standing in my way to true happiness. For example, some people drink to much, other smoke or waste time surfing the web. When you eliminate barriers in your path you can achieve incredible things. To have a strong foundation, you need to believe in yourself, have a purpose and surround yourself with a supportive core circle of friends and family.”

What is the one thing that women can do today to start creating their own personal brand?

“Before you start building your personal brand, it’s important to understand what you are passionate about and what you want to achieve. Your passions and purpose should be at the core of your personal brand. Once you know what you want to achieve, I recommend that you put on a “producer” mindset and figure out what you can create (i.e. write, art, gatherings) to help reinforce your passions and personal brand.”

What was the best part of launching Virgin America? What was the worst?

“The best part of launching Virgin America was being part of a team that was 150% dedicated to creating a product people would love. The passion and commitment of the Virgin America teammates was unlike anything I had ever witnessed in my career. The worst part of the job was my daily commute from beautiful Marin County to Burlingame.”

What was the best decision you made in your life?

“The best decision I have ever made was having a baby. My daughter is now ten years old and she is by far my greatest gift and the most important person in my life.”

What have you learned about yourself through traveling?

“Through traveling, I have learned that I have a passion for meeting people. I’m addicted to conversation and I’m energized when I’m around groups of new people. Traveling has also shown me that I’m very adaptable, resourceful and that I can find any location interesting or unique just by talking to someone new.”

What moment in your life did you feel the most alive? Speaking? Traveling, with your daughter?

“The moments I treasure the most are times spent with my daughter. However, the times I’ve felt most alive are typically situations where physical fitness and travel are combined. For example, I’ve climbed Kilimanjaro, biked across the country, rafted down the Snake River, run two marathons and hiked and skied in numerous locations. Those are the types of moments when my body, mind and spirit are all in sync.”

Who is your hero?

“Maya Angelou, Sir Richard Branson, Ann Lamott.”

What do you hope that guests will learn when they attend the conference on August 27th?

“I hope guests at the August 27th conference will learn that our ability to connect and create meaningful relationships has been enhanced because of technology. The world has moved from 6 degrees of separation down to 4 or even 3. Because of our networks and connections, we are now able to achieve more in our lives if we focus on our true passions, the power of collaboration and innovation. There is no limit to what you can achieve. One key is to focus first on your passions and than build your social capital (or network) around your dreams and beliefs.”
