Top Chefs Compete Head-to-Head in the Fifth Annual San Francisco Lamb Jam

San Francisco’s top chefs, restaurants and local lamb fans will gather at the General’s Residence at Fort Mason for an afternoon dedicated to celebrating one thing, yummy in your tummy American lamb.

logo-headerCompeting for the titles of “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice,” participating chefs will showcase their culinary skills by preparing a dish utilizing American lamb, with each dish being voted on by key media representatives and event attendees. The winning chef will represent San Francisco at the Lamb Jam Masters taking place this fall in San Luis Obispo during Sunset Magazine’s Savor the Central Coast event.

In addition to feasting on American lamb, more than 300 guests have the opportunity to sample local wines and beers, observe butchery demos, and interact with local shepherds. A VIP Pre-party will take place from 1 – 2p.m., featuring limited beer, wine & spirits, signature lamb dishes and sheep’s milk cheeses.

This year’s participating chefs include: Francis Hogan, Bluestem Brasserie; Telmo Faria, Chino; Alicia Jenish, Gitane; Robin Song, Hog & Rocks; Sophina Uong, Pican; Larry Finn, Scala’s Bistro; Matt Greco, The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards; Laurance Gordon, Thirsty Bear Brewing Co; John Fink, The Whole Beast.

A portion of the proceeds from the San Francisco Lamb Jam will benefit La Cocina, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating low income food entrepreneurs, providing affordable commercial kitchen space, industry-specific technical assistance and access to market opportunities.
