Visitors to Barcelona have many options in terms of hotel accommodations. Given the expansive geography of the metropolis, it can be a daunting task to find the best match. My search included checking out the review rating sites, exploring Tango Diva’s archive of Barcelona posts and researching the larger hotel groups in the region. I have been very lucky with larger hospitality groups in the past. They do intensive research before investing millions. It takes a team of experts to open a successful property. I found one such company that appears to be getting it right.

The Majestic Hotel Group, a Catalan company, has been an active part of the hospitality industry for nearly 100 years. The company is best known for the Majestic Hotel and Spa. The 5 star hotel property is located on Barcelona’s famed Passeig de Gràcia in the heart of the Eixample district. Gaudí’s architectural masterpieces and fine shopping are just minutes away making The Majestic Hotel and Spa a top pick for discerning clientele and celebrities.

The Majestic brand is synonymous with luxury. But with luxury comes high room rates making a stay at the premier properties cost-prohibitive for most.

Happily for us, the Majestic Hotel Group’s commitment to excellence can now be experienced at every price point. With a successful strategic expansion into Barcelona’s urban core, the Majestic portfolio has now grown in terms of properties and appeal. A diverse and youthful collection has emerged.

Affordable Accessibility for the Average Traveler!

Hotel Inglaterra is one of several spirited additions to the family with affordable accessibility for the average traveler.

The Hotel Inglaterra’s city center location, modern design touches and intimate atmosphere make it a special find – a favorite of adventurous solo travelers. Small, comfortable and convenient, the hotel makes the perfect Barcelona base for travelers who want freedom and affordability over 5 star finishes and pricing.

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of the “Golden Triangle”, a bustling tourist and shopping area midway between Plaza Catalunya and Plaza Universitat.

Set amidst retail shops and office storefronts on a somewhat hidden side street, the hotel can be easily missed. The building itself takes up less than a city block and there is no doorman. But once you get your bearings and register a local landmark (in my case, a corner Starbucks), it is a snap to find. Head to the terrace for some pool and sun during the day – and then hit the 5 top terraces in the city for cocktails at sunset.

Barcelona’s top attractions are within reach by foot. Las Ramblas is a short 10 minute walk. If you are not a fan of walking, catch a bus tour at nearby Plaza Catalunya. The buses offer fully narrated tours in English and hop on/hop off privileges.

BONUS: The Airport Bus makes a regular stop at Plaza Universidad. From the Plaza, turn down Carrier de Pelai. Walk for 5 minutes…hotel is on the right. Simple and easy… no taxi needed. Individual Fare: 6 Euros.
