Maybe because I’m an alumn I might be a tad biased, but if you have any fashionista inklings whatsoever, you DO NOT want to miss this year’s California College of the Arts Senior Fashion Show, May 8, 2009. If it’s anything like their previous shows you’ll be amazed at the level of talent, artistry, and professionalism the students demonstrate, plus you’ll be among the first to get a glimpse of what may be the future’s top fashion designers.

The Fashion Design Program at California College of the Arts is pleased to announce the 2009 Senior Fashion Show, to be held at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, on the college’s San Francisco campus, located at 1111 Eighth Street. This runway show, juried by an industry panel, features original designs worn by professional models. General-admission tickets are $25; VIP tickets are $100 and include reserved seating at the event plus admission to the Friends of Fashion cocktail preparty.

Some of these up-and-coming fashion design graduates have already attracted industry attention for the quality and creativity of their work. One student’s placement as runner-up in the “Chuck It or Keep It” global student competition at the Fashioning the Future summit in London even garnered coverage in Vogue magazine (“Sustaining Fashion” October 28, 2008) with her ” One Night Only” sandels-see pic.

CCA’s juried senior student fashion show is the culminating capstone experience for the Fashion Design BFA majors. Featuring the original collections of up-and-coming designers, the Fashion Show will be a high-caliber runway presentation with professional models. future of fashion,
This year’s designers will be selected from the CCA Fashion Design class of 2009 by a jury of industry professionals.

Surface magazine is the media sponsor for the Senior Fashion Show. CCA’s relationship with Surface—now in its seventh year—gives students the opportunity to have their work evaluated by the magazine’s editors in consideration for the Surface Emerging Talent Award. The winner of this award receives a profile of his or her work in the magazine’s annual Avant Guardian issue and is flown to New York to attend the photo shoot.
