Name: Graham Humphreys

Occupation: High Tech transplant

Hometown: New to San Francisco from London

What makes a London lad tick? Well lasses, the answer to these ten questions should put some wind in your willows!

Graham Humphreys writes British songs and makes American advertisements. He knows
London better than most—he was rained on there for seventeen years
before realizing a long-held dream to move to San Francisco.

After studying piano and composition at the Guildhall School in London,
he changed careers to Advertising in order to afford a decent martini.
Moreover, it afforded a decade’s research into creative ways to behave
badly in London.

Graham works at Agency.com in San Francisco.

Diva Minds Want to Know…

1. Where do you like to flirt?

On the right side of two Martinis.

2. Where’s your favorite table for two?

Andrew Edmunds’ place on Lexington Street, Soho. It’s French in a
good way – as in great cuisine, homely, cozy, sophisticated, relaxed, and very, very sexy.

3. Where should we stay when we visit (besides your place)?

The Sanderson Hotel on Berners Street. Whether you’re into the
design, the bar cocktails, the human zoology, or just getting picked up, this
is one of the buzziest nightspots in town.

4. What quality do you find irresistible in a woman?

The ability to surprise me.

5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon? Just roll over?

In the back of the Admiral Hardy Pub, Greenwich, nurturing two
life-loves of mine: my friends and beer.

6. What do you love most about your city (besides our arrival)?

Black Cabs. They’re urban lifeboats. You know you’re home and dry if
you catch one. The drivers have learned every street in the city. It
takes three years of study to get a black cab license. In fact, research
has shown that cabbie’s brains are significantly larger than average.

7. What should we bring when we visit your town? What should we leave with?

Bring an open mind. Leave with a hungover one.

8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?

The London Eye. On a clear evening, it’s the best 20 dollars and 30
minutes you can spend.

9. Any areas of town we should avoid?

Elephant and Castle. Strange name, but at least it sounds a bit
better than ‘Ugly, Shitty, Soul-Sucking Dump’

10. Any local secrets you want to share?

Check out Old Compton Street in Soho. It’s a few yards and worlds away
from the tourist trail. It has the most accessible nightspots and
some pretty outrageous characters.
