1. Where do single people like to meet up in your hometown?
In Cairo, most people are still conservative and introductions that families feel would be good matches are made by families. The man and woman have to right not to see someone if they think it is not appropriate for them.
For people working in the business world, we often meet people through our work or friends. There are social clubs in Cairo that most successful people belong to and this is another avenue for meeting someone.
2. Where are your favorite places to eat and drink?
Cairo has a huge variety of restaurants, my favorite is good Egyptian food – the Mediterranean Restaurant at the Four Seasons Plaza Hotel is a favorite. For a special evening a dinner at the Semiramis Intercontinal Hotels “The Grill,” has spectacular views of the city and the food is outstanding.
Most Muslims don’t drink alcohol.
3. Where should we stay when we visit?
The Mena House Hotel at the base of the pyramids has recently undergone an extensive renovation and is set amid 40 acres of jasmine scented gardens. This hotel has been entertaining dignitaries for 100+ years and should not be missed.
4. What qualities do you find irresistible in a woman?
A good sense of humor, a gentle soul, someone who keeps the traditions of our faith, and someone who puts her family above all else.
5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon?
Hopefully at soccer match.
6. What do you love most about your hometown (besides our arrival)?
The sense of humor of the Egyptian people – while life can be challenging in Egypt the people always find a reason to smile.
7. What should we bring when we visit? What should we leave with?
Bring an open mind, open heart and sense of adventure. I would hope you would leave feeling that Egypt and her people is a second home.
8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?
Everything.
9. Any areas of town we should avoid?
Egypt is an incredibly safe city. Other than an occasional pick pocket there is very little street crime. It is also an ancient city, which means it is very easy to get lost in all the narrow streets and alley ways.
10. Any local secrets you want to share?
The wonders that Egypt has to offer beyond the pyramids, sphinx and Valley of the Kings.
