Name: Lawrence Alexander Ford

Age: 38

Hometown: Prestatyn, North Wales

Occupation: Podiatric Surgeon

Marital Status: Taken

1. Where do you like to flirt?

My favourite places to flirt in North Wales are the holiday camps along the coast. During the summer these get filled with party-goers from Liverpool, Manchester, and Birmingham who are looking for a good time.

2. What are your favorite places to eat and drink?

My favourite watering hole is The Cross Foxes at the top of Prestatyn High Street for a few drinks before stumbling down to the Royal Victoria for something a little edgier later on. As for food, the White Horse Inn near Denbigh, which has been around since the sixteenth century, is the donkey’s bollocks!

3. Where should we stay when we visit?

Llanberis or any of a number of tiny villages in Snowdonia if you want a rugged Welsh countryside experience. Aberystwyth, on the other hand, is an old college town on the seaside in west Wales that has more of a nightlife.

4. What qualities do you find irresistible in a woman?

If she can handle being with me without going mad, and look good doing it, then that’s hard to beat.

5. Where can we find you on a free Sunday afternoon?

Relaxing, maybe going for a nice walk, or even a paddle in my kayak.

6. What do you love most about your hometown (besides our arrival)?

It is trapped in a time when it was a popular holiday destination for Victorian England, but now is off the beaten path and better for it.

7. What should we bring when we visit? What should we leave with?

Bring an umbrella, comfortable walking shoes, antacids, and some Motrin. Leave with phone numbers of your new Welsh friends you met in the pub. As for souvenirs, you have to steal a sheep.

8. What do we absolutely have to see while we’re there?

If you are traveling there in August, then the Eisteddfod music and art festival will be the highlight of your trip. It is in Mold this year, not too far away. Some of the best Welsh towns to visit are Llangollen, Llandudno, Bangor, and Conway, which are all Welshy Welsh and full of friendly people.

9. Any areas of town we should avoid?

Prestatyn on a Monday, and neighbouring Rhyl after dark.

10. Any local secrets you want to share?

The only real restaurant in Prestatyn (Archie’s Wine Bar) is closed on Mondays, and there are no hotels. Bed and breakfasts are a better bet, but there’s only one and good luck finding it!

There is a castle in almost every town.

A canal barge trip would be a great way to spend a few days.

Snowdonia is an outdoors paradise.

The closest major cities are Chester, Liverpool, and Manchester in
England.

Cardiff in South Wales is a long way away but is supposed
to be one of the most happening and hippest cities in Britain at the
moment.
